Exercise 4
What must be considered when processing personal data in a research context? Take notes for your academic work.
Proposed Solution
- Obtain explicit consent from the data subject for processing personal data.
- Processing must be for specified purposes (purpose limitation).
- The extent of processing must be appropriate to the purpose (only as much as necessary).
- Right to accuracy (right to correct incorrect data).
- Ensure the security of personal data (protection against unauthorized access and data loss).
- Delete data once the research purpose has been fulfilled.
Exception: Reuse of research data – If no explicit consent for storage and reuse is given, personal data must be anonymized or pseudonymized.
