An artistic or scientific performance could include a theater performance, a translation of a work, or the creation of an image, such as a photograph or an X-ray.

The German Act on Copyright and Related Rights provides for the following related rights (§§ 70-94) (UrhG, 2021):

• Protection of scientific editions
• Protection of photographs
• Protection of artists
• Protection of phonogram producers
• Protection of broadcasting organizations
• Protection of database creators
• Protection of press publishers, and
• Special protective provisions for films.
